The BAFTAS are announced tonight! Best of luck for all echo clients with films nominated;  Costume Designer Holly Rebecca (pictured), Director of Photography David Gallego, ADFC and Art Director Malin Lindholm for their work on I AM NOT A WITCH as well as Costume Designer Guy Speranza for JAWBONE and Consulting Editor Jinx Godfrey on KINGDOM OF US, all nominated for Outstanding Debut by a British Writer, Director or Producer.  GOD'S OWN COUNTRY has also been nominated for Outstanding British Film, with hair and make-up design by Bean Ellis, PADDINGTON 2, edited by Mark Everson, has been nominated for both Best Adapted Screenplay and Outstanding British Film and AAMIR, co-edited by Matteo Bini has been nominated for Best British Short Film. We'd also like to congratulate our new client,  Jon Henry Gordon, Hair Designer on PHANTOM THREAD which received four nominations. 

SHOOTING IS UNDERWAY ON "POLAR"

After the success of Director Jonas Åkerlund's last film, LORDS OF CHAOS, shooting is underway in Toronto on his next feature starring Mads Mikkelsen.  With regular collaborator, Costume Designer Susie Coulthard and produced by Constantin Films and Mister Smith Entertainment, the spy thriller, POLAR, based on a graphic novel of the same name, tells the story of a master assassin who comes out of retirement to contend with a group of young hit men.  

BERLIN FILM FESTIVAL STARTS TODAY!

Showing in the Special Gala, Rupert Everett's THE HAPPY PRINCE, cut by Nicolas Gaster, tells the tale of Oscar Wilde (played by Everett) in the last years of, the once celebrated and later disgraced, writer's life. Also in competition at the festival is 7 DAYS IN ENTEBBE, directed by José Padilha and with Production Design by Kave Quinn. The film, produced by Working Title, stars Rosamund Pike and Daniel Brühl and is inspired by the true events of the 1976 hijacking of an Air France flight en route from Tel Aviv to Paris.

MICROWAVE DEBUT "MARI" SHOOTS!

Georgia Parris' directorial feature debut, MARI is now shooting! Part of the Film London Microwave scheme and co-produced by BFI and BBC Films, MARI, also written by Parris, brings original choreography to the big screen as it follows contemporary dancer Charlotte on a personal journey that goes from her grandmother's deathbed to the prospect of motherhood.  With echo Hair + Make-Up Designer Bean Ellis, Costume Designer Holly Rebecca and Editor Napoleon Stratogiannakis all collaborating with Parris.

"COLLATERAL" IS OUT TONIGHT ON BBC TWO

With episodes three and four cut by Editor Sacha Szwarc, the new four-part mini-series, COLLATERAL airs tonight.  Written by BAFTA winner Sir David Hare, directed by SJ Clarkson and produced by The Forge, this gripping thriller explores the spiralling ramifications that follow a fatal shooting on the streets of London. Oscar nominee and BAFTA winner, Carey Mulligan returns to the small screen playing the investigating officer DI Kip Glaspie alongside the stella cast of Billie Piper, John Simm, Hayley Squires and Nicola Walker. 

"GOLDEN EXITS" IS RELEASED IN THE US TODAY!

After being nominated for the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance,  GOLDEN EXITS is released in US cinemas today. Directed by Alex Ross Perry, starring Emily Browning and Chloë Sevigny, Director of Photography, Sean Price Williams depicts the tale of two Brooklyn families whose lives begin to unravel when a young Australian girl comes to stay. 

"THE MERCY" IS OFFICIALLY RELEASED IN THE UK TODAY!

Directed by Academy Award winning James Marsh and produced by Blueprint Pictures and Studio Canal, THE MERCY follows the true story of yachtsman Donald Crowhurst's disastrous attempt to win the 1968 Golden Globe Race. The film stars Colin Firth, Rachel Weisz and David Thewlis and was designed by Production Designer Jon Henson and edited by Jinx Godfrey. 

"REQUIEM" IS OUT TONIGHT ON BBC ONE + NETFLIX

Lensed by new Director of Photography client, Chloë Thomson, the new six-part drama written and created by Kris Mrksa and directed by Mahalia Belo tells the story of a talented young cellist's life being turned upside down by her mother's inexplicable suicide.  REQUIEM, produced by Charlie Pattinson’s New Pictures, stars Lydia Wilson, Joel Fry and James Frecheville and airs tonight on BBC One and Netflix. 

EDITING IS UNDERWAY ON "MELROSE"

Editors Dan Roberts and Luke Dunkley are in full swing on PATRICK MELROSE, directed by Edward Berger starring Benedict Cumberbatch.  The new 5 part series for Sky Atlantic and Showtime is based on the of novels by Edward St. Aubyn following the harrowing life of Patrick Melrose. Jumping from his youth in the South of France in the 1960s to New York in the 80s and finally London in the 2000s, the story follows his traumatic childhood, his struggles with substance abuse and eventual road to recovery.  Dan Roberts is co-cutting episode 3 and Luke Dunkley is co-cutting episodes 2 and 4.

"EARLY MAN" OUT NOW IN UK CINEMAS!

With an editorial polish by Mark Everson, the new Nick Park claymation, EARLY MAN, starring Eddie Redmayne, Tom Hiddleston, Maisie Williams and Timothy Spall is out now in UK cinemas. 

SUNDANCE FILM FESTIVAL STARTS TODAY!

The Sundance Film Festival starts today with a few additional ECHO appearances!  Jonas Åkerlund's LORDS OF CHAOS follows the dark and twisted beginnings of Oslo's Black Metal movement, showing in the "Midnight" programme with costumes designed by Susie Coulthard and hair and make-up designed by Loz Schiavo. Meanwhile Yannis Chalkiadakis, a new client to ECHO edited the feature PITY which is nominated for the Grand Jury Prize.  MR INBETWEEN, directed by Nash Edgerton and lensed by Director of Photography Christopher Miles will also see it's world premiere.   This is in addition to, the BAFTA nominated I AM NOT A WITCH, with art direction from Malin Lindholm, lensed by David Gallego and costumed by Holly Rebecca, along with the US premiere of Michael Pearce's BEAST, with production design by Laura Ellis Cricks,  OPHELIA, starring Naomi Watts and Tom Felton will have it's world premiere, directed by Claire McCarthy and edited by Luke Dunkley.  Luke also co-edited Bart Layton's AMERICAN ANIMALS, screening in the "US Dramatic Competition".   

CADBURY "MUM'S BIRTHDAY" BROADCASTS

The new advert, Cadbury MUM'S BIRTHDAY has been released today with costume design by ECHO's Holly Rebecca. Directed by Academy's Fréderic Planchon, it's a heartwarming short story of small girl very seriously trying to buy her mum a birthday chocolate bar, while paying an increasingly bemused shopkeeper with a child's pocket assortment of buttons, costume rings and lastly (with some reluctance) a toy unicorn. We're looking forward for the second instalment of the campaign to be released! 

SHOOTING HAS BEGUN ON "COLIN YOU ANUS" 

Ben Wheatley's COLIN YOU ANUS, produced by Andy Starke of Rook Films has started shooting. Hair + Make-Up Designer, Emma Scott and Costume Designer, Emma Fryer reunite with Wheatley on this mysterious new feature.

JANE PETRIE NOMINATED FOR A CDG AWARD

Costume Designer Jane Petrie has been nominated for a Costume Design Guild Award: Excellence in Period Television for her work on Season 2 of THE CROWN.  The new season aired on Netflix on December 8th 2017 and was directed by Stephen Daldry, Benjamin Caron, Philip Martin and Philippa Lowthorpe for Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television.  The CDG Awards will be announced on 20th February 2018.

"BLACK MIRROR" SEASON 4 RELEASED ON NETFLIX ON 29 DECEMBER

Charlie Booker's sci-fi anthology series returns for a dystopian fourth season on Netflix. The new season includes six new distinct episodes, each addressing our anxieties about living in an increasingly technical world. John Hillcoat directs CROCODILE with production design from new client Morgan Kennedy; Jodie Foster has directed ARKANGEL, cut by Jinx Godfrey with costume design by Guy Speranza; METALHEAD, directed by David Slade, shot in black and white, features work by Costume Designer Susie Coulthard who was nominated for a BAFTA Craft award for her work on SAN JUNIPERO. The season will conclude with the 90-minute BLACK MUSEUM directed by Colm McCarthy, with hair and make-up by Emma Scott. 

"PEAKY BLINDERS" OUT NOW ON US NETFLIX

After its November UK release, all episodes of the fourth season will be available to US viewers as of today. The award-winning television series starring Cillian Murphy, Paul Anderson, Tom Hardy, Joe Cole and newly joined Adrien Brody is returning to 1920s Birmingham as the family battles for survival. Episodes 1, 3 and 5 of this season have been cut by Dan Roberts, and directed by David Caffrey. Hair and Make-Up Designer, Loz Schiavo continued after designing for all of the previous seasons.

SEASON 2 OF "THE CROWN" OUT NOW ON NETFLIX

After a highly lauded first season, THE CROWN returns for ten episodes tonight on Netflix with Jane Petrie helming costume design. Claire Foy reprises her role as Queen Elizabeth II as the series continues to explore her increasingly troubled relationship with Prince Philip, played by Matt Smith. Creator Peter Morgan is still on board with Stephen Daldry, Benjamin Caron, Philip Martin and Philippa Lowthorpe directing for Left Bank Pictures and Sony Pictures Television.

SUNDANCE ANNOUNCES LINE UP!

Sundance Film Festival has released the line up with several ECHO appearances. Claire McCarthy's twist on Hamlet, OPHELIA, cut by Luke Dunkley and starring Daisy Ridley, Naomi Watts and Clive Owen is in the "Premieres" programme. Luke has also co-edited Bart Layton's art heist story, AMERICAN ANIMALS, which will screen in the "US Dramatic Competition". Rungano Nyoni's acclaimed I AM NOT A WITCH, lensed by David Gallego with art direction by Malin Lindholm and costumes by Holly Rebecca, will screen in the "Spotlight" programme, along with director Michael Pearce's debut feature BEAST about a murder accusation in a small British island community, with production design helmed by Laura Ellis Cricks.
